California Vote: Prop 19 Date Looms

As we approach the primeval November election many public and private companies futures hang in the balance.  The New York Times runs an article apiece week on a variety of subjects related to Pot, and how economies of the Hemp trade will be effected.

If you speak with odds makers and those shut to the eventual voting results most state it’s too shut to call.  I for one hope it passes, and after month’s of research I realize it is an eventuality.  California has long been the leader in slicing edge laws, and I watched the film Milk with Sean Penn and it reminded me a bit of the situation with Pot in California.  Just as Harvey Milk was elected the first Gay public official will Pot become a contributor to consolidate communities to solve cultural and economic problems.  Marijuana is not the demon many make it out to be just as homosexuality wasn’t the issue for the Castro and Gay rights.  The issue is about the people who make the laws and the influence few have over many.

Marijuana will continue to be part of the US Economy no matter what happens in November just as Gay rights and our evolving culture continued in San Francisco.  It took a lucky restructuring of the voting geography to finally have Harvey Milk succeed which included the Castro, Market Street and the Haight Asbury to near Milk over the Top after many years of failure.  I believe Prop 19 will pass with a final minute voting near taking place at bus stops and proponents handing out flyer’s on voting day.  It is finally time.
